Your Training Information
About Hybrid Training
Convenient and Efficient. Learn at Your Pace. Then Practice and Test With Purple.
You registered for Hybrid Training. This means that you will study part of the material virtually then attend shortened in-person training.
Part 1 is self-paced and can be completed in your own time. It must be completed prior to the next portion.
Part 2 is an instructor-led Skills and Assessment session that is shorter than traditional classes because you have already learned the material. Instead of a lecture with your instructor, you will simply practice and then complete an assessment. This assessment will include showing your skills and for some will also include a written test (depending on the course topic and employer requirements). With Purple, you can choose to complete Part 2 Live Online with an instructor or in person.
How Long Does Part 1 and 2 Take?
Most complete the online portion in approximately 1 to 5 hours, depending on the specific topic. See below for more specific estimates.
Please set aside extra time to complete the self-paced portion (Part 1) and do not wait until the last minute. You don't want to risk Part 1 taking longer than you expect and miss your Practice and Assessment Session. Please keep in mind, however, your experience may vary widely based on several factors including your PC, internet speed, and previous training. We recommend beginning the online session as soon as possible to ensure you have completed it prior to the Practice & Assessment session. Part 1 must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection.
The following is a list of how long each part normally takes with Red Cross Hybrid Learning:

How to Find the Your Training Center
We’ve moved! Our new Elkridge Center is located at 6865 Deerpath Road #152, Elkridge MD 21075.
IMPORTANT!
Some GPS systems send people to the train station instead of Purple. And, with COVID we’re limiting entry to one door. This can all be a little tricky and we may be unavailable if you try calling for help to find us. So, please review this before class for location, directions, and parking information.
When You Arrive
Our Hospitality Lounge is legendary! Snacks of all types are abundant and there are even places to charge your device. Normally, we’d say to make yourself comfortable before class and during breaks.
For now, during this public health crisis of COVID-19, we have curtailed the service. For the health and safety of our amazing customers, the Lounge is temporarily closed. We’ll still provide snacks, though! 😋 We’ll make them available for you to enjoy during training breaks — outside or in your vehicle.
The Arrival Process
Your instructor will greet you, check your temperature, conduct a brief screening, then give you any class materials specific to you. Your instructor will then tell where to find your seat. After you are find your spot, you’re welcome to make yourself at home until class begins. At your seat, you will find your training materials kit. All your supplies and equipment have already been disinfected or sanitized. All seats are spaced out to provide everyone at least 6 feet from other participants and Purple staff.
Timeliness
Classes begin promptly. During this public health crisis, you may arrive UP TO 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Please arrive for check-in during this 15-minute gap. Not before. Not after.
This helps us limit the spread of any infectious illnesses by shortening everyone’s in-class time. In your spare minutes, feel free to visually orient yourself with the room, explore your class materials, and prepare to begin your training promptly at the scheduled class time.
Students who arrive after the arrival window will not be admitted. We have a duty to ensure each student receives all the information needed. Classes begin promptly. LATE ARRIVALS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN CLASS, the rescheduling fee will apply, and you will not receive a refund. NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you arrive too late to be admitted, or need to pick a new training time for any reason, we ask that you reschedule online.
Physical Comfort and How to Dress
Certification with Purple includes hands-on practice and/or skills assessment. As such, please remember to wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable and allow you to move around easily. Training typically involves frequent will be transitioning between sitting, standing, and kneeling. You’ll likely also be required to perform mock scenarios during training. . Be sure to pick an outfit in which you can easily crouch, bend, and kneel. You will need to be able to kneel on the ground next to the manikins. If you have long hair, it may be best to wear it tied back or have an option to tie it back during specific portions.
We want to help you be as comfortable as possible. That's why we've gone the extra mile to provide ultra-thick kneeling pads. Want one for yourself? They’re great for gardening, bathing a little one, handy work, exercise, and camping.

Accurate Information is Important
Importance of Double-Checking for Accuracy
As a part of the registration process, you will be asked to provide information for the purpose of granting your certification. It is crucial for this information provided to be accurate as it is used for your certification (and may be needed for employment). Please double-check the information before submitting it.
What Happens When Mistakes are Made?
We provide each participant with the opportunity to provide accurate information to us during registration. And, Purple pays Red Cross or AHA or ASHI each time we process a certification.
If an error exists on your certification, and it is a result of:
inaccurate information provided during registration, a $45 fee will be accrued. These charges must be paid in order to correct the mistakes on your certification record and to be issued a new certificate.
our errors, we will make the appropriate corrections within twelve hours after the mistakes are noted and a change is requested.
If You Don’t Pass
You may be asking yourself what happens if you don’t pass the assessment and/or written exam? We do our best to help everyone to be successfully certified. Things happen, though - even with the best effort. If we aren't able to certify you, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to try again.
If your first attempt does not result in certification, we offer the following discounts for a second attempt:
$45 for group training in person, using any of these class types: Just the Test™, EZ Practice + Test™, or Quick Renew.
$48 for group Hybrid (Blended) training.
$50 for group full training.
$55 for one-on-one Just the Test™, EZ Practice + Test™, or Hybrid training.
Thankfully, we have a 100% pass rate right now, so you're in good hands. Our instructors work really hard to make sure everyone gets their certification the first time.
If you initially paid less than the fees above, it may have been because Purple issued a discount (either automatically through a current program or you used a code). Please keep in mind that discounts can only be used once. Therefore, the fees listed above are required upon a second attempt at certification. If you do not inform us that you need to try again, and then register using a discount, we will not be able to train you again until the relevant fee is paid in full. You will receive an email that your registration is on hold until the full fee is paid.
Once you use the form below to let us know you would like to try again, we will send you an email with a code. That code will allow you to register for training using the relevant reduced rate (listed above). This code must be used within 14 days from the date it is issued.

COVID -Enhanced Policies and Procedures
A lot has changed recently. We’ve changed too.
The team at Purple has kept abreast of the public health situation. As things change, we update our policies and procedures to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
Physical Factors that May Affect Your Participation
Doing Our Part
Sometimes physical challenges or other health conditions may impact a person’s participation. We are, of course, happy to serve each student to the fullest extent possible. Our instructors provide each participant with every opportunity to succeed, including making modifications to the way a course is delivered and modifying time allotments. In other words, we do our best to ensure each person that would like to be certified, has the opportunity to do so.
Requirements for Certification
To be certified, each student must successfully perform the requisite skills and meet course objectives. However, participants may modify how a skill is accomplished in order to meet the objective and successfully complete the certification requirements.
Participants unable to complete the assessments will not be certified. However, students may choose to take any of our classes for personal enrichment or to meet career objectives.
Communication of Needs
Please let us know below if there are any physical challenges that may impact your participation in addition to any modifications to the course we can make on your behalf to help you to successfully attain certification. Really, don’t hesitate. We love doing what we can to make training work for everyone.

How Your Fee Breaks Down
Each fee paid to Purple Health and Safety includes 2 components:
One part is passed from you directly to Red Cross after successful completion of your training. This is what has to be paid for Red Cross to provide your certification.
The second is paid to Purple and allows us to provide students with training, up-to-date equipment, and materials.
The certification fee passed directly to Red Cross is:
$22 for BLS,
$23 for CPR/AED, and
$31 for First Aid or First Aid/CPR/AED
To calculate the approximate portion paid to Purple, subtract the relevant certification fee (above - depends on the topic you registered for) from the total registration fee you paid. Please keep in mind, of course, this is just an estimate. This calculation doesn’t account for transaction fees that are taken out of your registration fee before we receive any funds.
For example, if you paid $53 for a BLS class, that means we sent $22 to Red Cross for your certification, and about $31 was paid to Purple (*minus transaction fees).
Why do we share this? We believe in transparency. And, we try to treat our customers with the respect we appreciate from companies.
